Relationships and Impact

Updated: Jun 23, 2020

(Reflection of Christopher Russo, Assistant Superintendent in Portland and Reynolds and currently the Director of the American School of Asuncion, Paraguay.)

I have met so many extraordinary people in my life that I am truly blessed. Recently, by some fluke, my mentor and first "boss" was in Argentina and we were able to catch up over awesome Argentinian steak and wine. As we spoke and mused about old times, it became evident, clearly evident, the impact this woman had had on me and my profession--I dare say some things even carried over to the personal side.

I think so often we forget to acknowledge those who have impacted us, nurtured us, or guided us. Clearly, without her support and care, I would not be successful today. I use an awful lot of her tricks of the trade, her tools for management. Just hadn't thought about it until we caught up. So I did it--I told her of her impact. And she beamed.

Who would thought we would meet again in Argentina--in Buenos Aires of all places? And what a place to tell her of her impact on me...

Special dinner at the famous Don Julio Parilla!

It was really good to see her again.
