The Fundraising Event of all Events!

Updated: Jun 23, 2020

(Reflection of Christopher Russo, Assistant Superintendent in Portland and Reynolds and currently the Director of the American School of Asuncion, Paraguay.)

I am going into my 3rd year of coordinating and managing the largest fund raising event I have had experience with--it generates well over a half a million dollars for the school and students! This of course was an inherited affair (with huge parent and student participation) but regardless it takes almost a whole year and requires a tremendous amount of coordination and much of it in Spanish.

From arranging sponsors, to coordinating events, anything and everything one would want to find in terms of an intercolegiate event, they will find at ours! We have well over 50 sporting events occurring, a fashion show, a talent contest, a singing contest, dozens of booths with activities and games--the events are scattered over the course of two weeks and each one is absolutely fantastic! Here are some pics of the set up. In subsequent posts I put some pics of the actual event.

Here is some further development...

The Back Fields: This is where the Fashion Show and Dance Competition will occur...

The "Mangos" with the food court. We probably have over 30 providers this year.

The volley and handball courts. These are busy for two weeks straight!
