(Reflection of Christopher Russo, Assistant Superintendent in Portland and Reynolds and currently the Director of the American School of Asuncion, Paraguay.)
Today I wrote a letter to staff and community that my family and I would be departing in 2021. No matter how you put it, it's never the way you want to say it--your sunset letter.
My family and I have been waffling for months but have decided its time and that we should try to be nearer to home. The community was gracious in their response, the Board supportive and kind, and our staff, well, the reactions were humorous to surprise. In the end it's been good, really good, and we couldn't have asked for a better experience for the family as a whole.
Somewhere in the middle of Argentinian nowhere...
